Methane (CH4) is an important greenhouse gas: the total positive climate forcing attributed to CH4 over the last 150 years is 40% that of carbon dioxide. Fugitive methane emissions from landfills are significant global sources of greenhouse gases emitted into the atmosphere.
The goal of this study is to evaluate the fugitive methane emission from a closed landfill in Tenerife. The two selected undergraduate students for this programme will collaborate with field and lab work related to INVOLCAN’s Environmental Monitoring of Methane Emission from Landfills in the Canary Islands.
