La Palma Government is able to allow parts of population to return to their lives

Since the last statement, 72 earthquakes have been located in the area, seven of them felt by the population in the epicentral area. The largest earthquake was recorded at 03:37 (UTC) today and corresponds to an earthquake of magnitude 5.0 (mbLg) that was felt with a maximum intensity of IV-V. This earthquake has been followed by a dense swarm of earthquakes. It is noteworthy that most of the activity recorded in the last 24 hours is located at depths greater than 30 km under the central area of Cumbre Vieja. The tremor signal continues to remain at low values, with a significant intensification episode between 03:00 and 04:00 UTC, coinciding with the swarm of deep earthquakes. The island’s network of permanent GNSS stations shows that after the reversal of vertical deformation at LP03, which is the closest to the eruptive centres, it remains at a lower level than previously established. On the other hand, the southwest deformation registered still continues. In the rest of the stations, the slight deflation possibly related to deep seismicity has moderated. Using a calibrated image, a column height of 2,500 m is estimated by IGN at 08:45 UTC (IGN, 2021).
