Cuna del Alma – Puertito de Adeje becomes a site of geologic interest

Newspaper article

Cuna del Alma

After several field campaigns, the recognition and evaluation of the deposits, supported by previous studies carried out by Dávila-Harris (2009), who investigated the record of explosive volcanism associated with the Las Cañadas volcano in the areas of Adeje and Abona, have allowed us to highlight the geological relevance of the outcrops of Puertito de Adeje. These rocks form part of a broader geological group that forms the Bandas del Sur unit, whose importance in the volcanic evolution of the island is significant.

Demonstration – SalvarElPuertito Instagram post call to action

Social media post

Demonstration

“We are back on the streets! This time in tourist areas. Five months after the historic demonstrations of 20-A, politicians and institutions continue to support a predatory tourism model. They continue to promote unlimited growth, while the population continues to suffer the consequences: more roads, more hotels, more tourists, more destruction of ecosystems, more precarious work and more poverty. Their hypocrisy is evident: they talked a lot about “rethinking the model” but the problems have not stopped getting worse. They have not even been able to stop projects riddled with irregularities, such as Cuna del Alma, the Chira Soria power plant or the Hotel de La Tejita. For this reason, we ask all those who are aware of the damage suffered by our land to take to the streets on 20-O with more force than ever, to make history again and to make it clear that this has only just begun. We will not stop until we achieve the change that the Canary Islands need.”
