The Salvar Puertito platform has announced a new demonstration opposing the Cuna del Alma tourism development. The protest is scheduled to take place on Sunday, November 16th, at 12:00 p.m. on Avenida Playa Paraíso, in Puertito de Adeje.
In a statement, the organisation declared, “Cuna del Alma is one of the biggest environmental and urban planning scandals in the history of the Canary Islands. It has a very long list of very clear signs of corruption, and yet, the works continue to move forward at full speed.”
In the recent report by Greenpeace, “The Other Altri, or How Corporations Threaten Biodiversity and Governments Allow It”, regarding 12 cases that represent how corporations threaten the biodiversity of Spain, Greenpeace echoes the sentiment of Salvar El Puertito. “It makes no sense that governments—and even many companies—talk to us about coastal protection or sustainable tourism and then propose enormously unfair projects that leave no space for nature, such as the Cuna del Alma development in Adeje.”
