La Palma eruption update 10th december 2021: Seismicity and tremor remain low
Daily summary
There has been little variability in the eruption in the last 24 hours, with it continuing to show strombolian activity and ash emission from several vents in the centre and southeast of the main cone, and effusive activity from vents to the west of the main cone. The lava flows continue to feed mostly flow 9, but some of flow 11 as well, although in the last 24 hours no new land has been affected by the lava flows.
Seismicity remains low, with only 44 events being recorded yesterday, peaking at M3.7, being recorded largely at intermediate depths (<20 km). This trend is also mirrored in the tremor, which remains low with little variability and has lowered slightly in the last 24 hours. Deformation too remains similar throughout the network, with no observable trends close to the eruptive centre, and stability in more distal stations.
Today, air quality in the exclusion zone is better than yesterday, allowing access from both the north and south, by land and by sea. SO2 levels away from the exclusion zone yesterday were good in all stations except Los Llanos de Aridane, Tazacorte and Puntagorda, which recorded levels between regular and unfavourable. PM10 concentrations remained better than previous days yesterday, reaching very good levels in San Antonio, and reasonably good in all other stations.

Notes: The size of the points represents the size of the earthquake, and the colour represents the depth. The map will also only show a certain number of points at once. For ease of use, we recommend you uncheck all dates and the satellite basemap from the legend in the top right, and inspect the earthquakes one day at a time.
