Southwest deformation and deflation observed

Rapid decrease in the number of seismic events but a high magnitude is maintained.

Lava flow causes confinements in Tazacorte.

Effusive/strombolian activity

Since the last statement, a total of 98 earthquakes have been located, six of which were felt by the population. The maximum magnitude recorded is 4.8 (mbLg) corresponding to the earthquake felt with maximum intensity IV. In the period considered, 84 earthquakes have been located at depths around 30 km, the rest of the hypocenters of the period are located at a shallower depth, around 12 km. The amplitude of the volcanic tremor signal continues at lower-mean levels with intensification pulses. The island’s network of permanent GNSS stations shows slight deformation towards the southwest at station LP03, which is the closest to the eruptive centers. In the rest of the stations, the slight deflation possibly related to deep seismicity has stabilized, except in LP01, which has registered it again. Using a calibrated image IGN estimates at 08:45 UTC, a column height of 3,700 masl and a scattering cloud in the east direction (IGN, 2021). By November 22nd flow 7 advanced westward reaching La Viña Beach. On November 23rd, Flows 1, 2, and 9 had merged and fed the main Southern delta whereas Flows 4, 5, and 7 widened and filled in gaps between previous flows (GVP, 2021).

This video taken on the 23rd of November shows the lava flow that was emitted from Tajogaite on the 18th of November has reached the sea, forming a new lava delta. Steam billows into the sky. Sourced from IGME (2021).
